Limits New and Old

As I sit in a yet another new hotel room in Europe, I am reviewing and revising my processes for the rest of the season. Thankfully, this will be my last night in a hotel for a long while since my last races of the year, Canadian National Championships are in Thunder Bay!

It’s been a tough go this season though it was not without its highlights. Representing Canada at World Junior Championships is up there as well as taking the win in the skate sprint at trials in Mont-Saint-Anne. On the other side of things, it has been a new experience to have my body not cooperate with what my mind is telling it to do. Then the secondary problem being a loss of confidence once my racing gear seemed inaccessible.

I love racing but, when I am not able to push myself the way I am used to it makes it a lot harder to have fun reaching the limit of what I am capable of on the day. My six weeks in Europe have been a learning experience in crazy mass starts and figuring out how to race the euros. Now it’s time to head back to Tbay and I am hopeful that I will have rested and recovered at home enough before taking on 5 races in 7 days to finish the season on a good note.

Favourite day of the trip!
